We have a fantastic new opportunity within business change and transformation as a Portfolio Specialist. You’ll be based from our Head office in Basingstoke, with a blend of home working and occasional travel to other sites.

The Role

The transformation team play a critical role in supporting the organisation as it creates and grows the capabilities it needs to provide outstanding customer services and successfully deliver the ambitions of our corporate plan.

Reporting to the Head of PMO, this role plays a proactive hands-on role in knowledge management, promoting portfolio, programme and project standards and methodology. This role is the driving force in raising the quality of the portfolio, programmes and projects through guiding and advising the delivery team, business stakeholders and sponsors on best practices.

Responsibilities include:

  • Being accountable for programme and project methodologies, systems, standards, and templates. Developing & maintaining these in line with Sovereign’s needs and ensuring the library of materials is relevant and up to date
  • Leading the “standards” on portfolio, programme and project delivery. Developing a clear vision of what these should be and championing the use of best practice project management standards and processes
  • Developing KPIs, monitoring and reporting performance against the use of methodologies, systems, standards, and templates. Reviewing completed projects for lessons learnt and case studies
  • Providing fast-track programme/project mobilisation support through collaborative working, facilitated workshops and tailoring of standard approaches & templates
  • Designing and supporting governance reporting for programmes/projects. Providing oversight of planning, tracking, and monitoring, including Change Management Controls and processes
  • Quality Assurance & Risk Management – being accountable for the risk management strategy, processes, and templates to ensure consistent application of risk management and risk registers

What we’re looking for

You should have demonstrable experience in project and programme management, as well as strong knowledge and practical experience in benefits realisation and methodologies. You’ll also have:

  • Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build strong, credible relationships at all levels
  • Clear communication style, both written and verbal
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to adapt quickly to changing business needs, demonstrating a logical approach to work
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • The ability to prioritise, meet deadlines and work effectively under pressure

Any qualifications in project management or change management would be advantageous.
