About the role
We are currently recruiting for a Quality Assurance Technologist, initially on a 12-month FTC based out of our Portbury site in Bristol, UK. This is a great opportunity for someone who already has a solid background in Food Production (or similar), to take real ownership of this busy and varied role. Please be aware that due to the location of this site, it is preferable that applying candidates have access to their own transport.
Key Responsibilities
Inspection and Testing
- Participate in taste panels with the site teams to ensure high standards of quality are maintained
- Complete calibration of equipment to ensure our legal compliance
Good Manufacturing Practices
- Work cross-functionally to drive improvement in factory standards to exceed our customer and regulatory expectations
Complaints & Continuous Improvement
- Assist in the investigation of complaints including the necessary reporting, returned materials evaluation & reporting, communication, and corrective actions, as per the site customer complaint procedure.
- Continuously improve standards set by facilitating and executing appropriate Root Cause Analysis (RCA) Methodologies such as 8 Step Practical Problem Solving within the Production Stream and other site functions.
Quality Inspection
- Perform routine factory-based food safety and quality standards inspections and audits including (but not an exhaustive list): Fabrication inspections, GMP, Hygiene Verification audits, foreign body inspections, layered confirmation audits, and logging of all non-conformances.
- Provide guidance, education and support to the department being audited to enable them to self-inspect and ensure they understand the standards required.
Incident Management
- Work cross-functionally in root cause analysis and investigations following site and product non-conformances
- Work with production teams to drive completion of corrective action plans
Audits
- Member of the site internal audit team and the completion of GMP & systems audits
- Represent the Quality function in external audits
Training
- Deliver quality-focused training to the production teams
Traceability Systems
- Perform the sites mock recalls in line with company and customer expectations, completing post-mock recall reviews to continuously improve
- Perform traceability exercises as defined during customer visits or external audits
Control of Products
- Complete Shelf-life extension requests, both for raw materials and finished products.
- Ensuring retained samples and micro samples are managed effectively
- Positive release of raw materials and finished products
- Investigate and control non-conforming product
