Job Title: Apprentice Mechatronics Engineer
Location: Great Western Hospital – Swindon, Swindon SN3 6BB
Working Week: 37.5 hours a week
Salary: Up to £10,553 per annum plus benefits & 25 days annual leave
Apprenticeship Qualification: L3 Engineering Technician (Mechatronics)
Expected Apprenticeship Duration: 42 Months to endpoint assessment.

Here at Serco, we are looking for an Apprentice Mechatronics Engineer to join our team at Great Western Hospital Swindon.
We provide an FM contract that includes a variety of Hard FM services including Electrical and Mechanical Engineering/Maintenance of the hospital estate. In addition to this, we provide a number of Soft FM services including Housekeeping & domestics, portering and catering.
Key accountabilities:
To complete an approved apprenticeship with the aim of carrying out preventative and reactive maintenance activities to items of heating, cooling, ventilation, AHU’s, Chillers, hot and cold water plant, BMS, control systems, Macerators, Pumps
- To work on Mechanical, Electromechanical and control systems under the supervision and as part of progression/training.
- Fault finding and rectification of plant and equipment under the supervision and as part of progression/training.
- Maintain records of tools and spares and report this as required.
- To understand and work within the Health and Safety standards set by the business.
- Will work towards achieving a recognised Qualification with the aim of becoming a qualified Mechatronics Engineer; namely an Advanced (Level 3) Apprenticeship lasting approximately four years, with an Intermediate level achieved after approximately two years.
- Maintain knowledge of current and new legislation.
