We are currently looking for a Senior Scientist – Molecular Biology & Microbiology to join a leading preclinical toxicology company based in the Manchester area. This is a great opportunity for a PhD qualified scientist with strong experience of DNA extraction methods, E. Coli handling and bacterial cell culture experience.

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Your duties as the Senior Scientist – Molecular Biology & Microbiology will be varied however the key duties and responsibilities are as follows:

1. You will be involved with high quality of in vitro studies where you will be working closely with the Study Director/Team Lead to help meet study deadlines; primarily in relation to nucleic acid extraction, microbiology and cell culture.
2. You will be working with automated and semi-automated assay platforms while performing studies within the laboratory.
3. It will be your responsibility to collect and record data in accordance to both GLP and non-GLP principles when required while following SOPs.
4. As the Senior Scientist – Molecular Biology & Microbiology, you will be driven and motivated to maintain the integrity of studies and the products that the CRO works with, while willing to learn.

ROLE REQUIREMENTS:

To be successful in your application to this exciting opportunity as the Senior Scientist – Molecular Biology & Microbiology we are looking to identify the following on your profile and past history:
1. A PhD in a life science subject (e.g. Toxicology, Microbiology, Pharmacology, Cell Biology, Genetics, Molecular Biology, etc.).
2. Proven academic or industry experience in a life science laboratory performing and optimising molecular biology assays (DNA extraction), cell culture techniques. Handling bacteria cells (e.g. E. Coli) is essential.
3. A working knowledge and practical experience with GLP and ISO standards is highly desirable but 1 year training will be provided.
