Aircraft Supervisor – Avionics

Nottinghamshire, NG23 5NG, Salary up to £27,000 per annum plus benefits, Full time – 39 Hours per week 

Serco Defence is looking for an experienced Aircraft Supervisor to join the team at RAF Syerston. You will ensure that aircraft are maintained in airworthy condition in accordance with current regulations and the certification and release of aircraft to the customer.

As part of this you’ll:

  • Carry out the responsibilities and duties of Support Staff with Supervisory Responsibilities in accordance with Serco GMS Military Regulation Publication (MRP) Part 145 Maintenance Organisation Exposition (MOE), Military Aviation Authority (MAA) MRP Part 145 and Regulatory Article (RA) 4801.
  • Maintenance (Preventative, Corrective and Scheduled) and associated activities (i.e. Manpower, Tasks and Spares prioritisation) on Viking Avionic systems etc and other contract-related aircraft at RAF Syerston and 2 Flying Training School (FTS) locations/Volunteer Gliding Squadrons (VGSs)/detachments throughout the UK.
  • Management, supervision, participation in and control of aircraft activities including but not limited to; Avionic systems, ground movement and preparation for transportation.
  • Leadership, management, supervision, and control of assigned maintenance teams.
  • Optimising output to meet the business needs and demonstrating a commitment to Operational Excellence and Continuous Improvement.
  • Carry out associated roles as directed by the business needs, such as but not limited to; Deputy Team Leader (Mobile), Line Supervisor, Building Custodian, TMEC Support and Issue Centre Custodian.
  • Carry out associated duties as directed by the business needs, such as but not limited to; audits, completion of Aviation Safety procedures (In-Forms, DASORs etc), Narrative Fault Reporting (MOD Form 760 series), Unsatisfactory Feature Report for Military Air Environment Technical Information (MOD Form 765), Technical Queries, aircraft F700 Quality Checks and Quality procedures.
  • Achieving and maintaining authorisations and currency.

What you’ll need to do the role

  • Be appropriately experienced and have completed, as a minimum, MOD Phase 2 technical training (Electrical bias) or hold an appropriate category A, B1, B2 or C licence in compliance with European Aviation Safety Agency or be appropriately experienced and have completed suitable civilian training.
  • Demonstrate having experience of or potential to hold Support Staff with Supervisory Responsibilities or civilian equivalent
  • Have a minimum of 5-years’ experience in equivalent civilian industry or Armed Forces in Avionics/Electrical Trade Group.
  • Possess good fault diagnosis skills, demonstrating a thorough understanding of Avionics/Electrical aircraft systems.
  • Technically competent.
  • Hold full driving licence.
  • Possess good communication skills both written and verbal.
