Your future duties and responsibilities
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Software Engineer to work on a variety of Marine projects. As a software engineer within CGI, you will be be involved in the Development, Testing & Commissioning of systems ready for delivery to customers, Software development and integration of new components. This role is reporting directly into the Project Manager and will involve working on other aspects of the project to ensure their successful delivery.
As part of this position, you will be expected to travel to customer sites to help commission the system and participate in Harbour and Sea Acceptance Testing, as and when required.
Key duties & responsibilities:
– Assist as part of a team on the development of components for the systems being developed
– Code, document changes, follow established processes and conduct unit testing
– Ensure adherence to secure coding standards and best practices as defined for the project
Required skills to be successful in this role:
– Competence in and understanding of coding best practices, clean code, code review and similar
– Develop, build and assure quality of applications
– Ensure application and data confidentiality, integrity, and availability by developing software having security built in.
– Competent using C++, Linux, Git and XML
– Competent with Ethernet and Serial Protocols and competent with Database concepts and SQL – 3
– Knowledge of the QT framework and Enterprise Architect
– Understanding of Databases like SQLite
Any of the following would be useful but not essential:
– Knowledge of Charting and GIS systems
– Knowledge of the Maritime Domain
– Knowledge of Windows development
