Portfolio/responsibilities of this role

This role will work across the whole of the Digital and Innovation portfolio, supporting activity across core IT and technology, customer and digital. This will require a proactive and relentless focus on delivery

• Overseeing the organization’s development and production environments
• Run and build cloud infrastructure and services
• Use open-source, cloud-based technologies to enable our organization to be agile
• Deployment and configuration of DevOps pipelines, code repositories, automated testing
• Assist in the council’s adoption of multi-cloud (Azure/AWS/GCP) services, including but not limited to migration of services into Cloud platforms, implementing and maintaining cloud security and providing administration and configuration of IaaS, PaaS and SaaS
• Maintain a culture of proactive and continual service improvement, constantly enhancing the user experience of technology services

• Provide subject matter expertise and quality assurance where required on key areas of the cloud infrastructure environment
• Implement plans to ensure our infrastructure meets existing and future demand and reduce the cost of our infrastructure wherever possible.
• Maintain up to date records of our infrastructure and platform services via our CMDB
• Implement processes and tools for monitoring and managing the performance of automated systems and services.
• Work with others to plan and implement complex infrastructure upgrade projects as necessary, managing any risks along the way.
• Work with architects to translate architectural designs into operations
• Review upgrades and patches available from system software suppliers, carry out a full impact analysis, identify those which merit action and recommend and implement upgrade plans.
• traditional infrastructure support of Windows Server, VMWare and storage products
• Prepare software implementation procedures with fall back contingency plans and ensure that new versions of system software are properly installed and thoroughly tested.
