Electrical Technician – Birmingham, West Midlands
Salary – £45,600 plus bonus and Veolia benefits
Location – Tyseley, Birmingham B11 2BA
Hours – 40 per week, Monday – Friday 7:30am – 4pm (You will be required to work the occasional bank holiday and weekend paid at overtime)
We are looking for an experienced electrical technician to join the team based at our Energy Recovery Facility and Clinical Incinerator Plant.
This is a state-of-the-art Energy Recovery Facility (ERF) just to the east of Birmingham City Centre, which takes 350,000 tonnes of Birmingham’s rubbish each year and converts it into electricity.
What will you be doing?
- Perform and document maintenance, installation, fault diagnosis, and repair of electrical, mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic control systems
- Inspect, repair and maintain all types of LV electrical plant, apparatus, control gear, pumps, fans, conveyors, overhead hoist cranes and valves
- Maintain files, logs and drawings for all electro-mechanical equipment using the Computerised Maintenance Management System
- Understand piping and instrumentation Diagrams (P&ID’s), wiring diagrams, panel drawings, pneumatic/hydraulic diagrams and mechanical engineering drawings
- Liaise with and oversee suppliers/contractors carrying out Electro-mechanical tasks/projects to ensure compliance with company procedures and safe working systems
- To propose and develop modifications and improvements to plant /apparatus as appropriate
What are we looking for?
- Apprentice trained/HND/HNC/NVQ 3 or equivalent qualification in a relevant engineering discipline
- Knowledge of all aspects of maintenance techniques associated with Electro-mechanical systems
- Proven knowledge of Permit to Work Systems and Safe Systems of Work
- Able to work a rota that includes some weekend working and overtime to give overall maintenance cover 365 days per, days and nights if required
