Fresh off a hat-trick this weekend, England have called up Emily Arlott, the uncapped seamer, to their squad of 17 for the Test match against India at Bristol, which begins next Wednesday.
Arlott has eight wickets in three matches for unbeaten Central Sparks in the Rachael Heyhoe-Flint Trophy this season. On Saturday, she took five for 29, including a hat-trick.
Alongside Freya Davies, Sarah Glenn, Mady Villiers, Tash Farrant and Sophia Dunklet, Central Sparks seamer Arlott, 23, is one of six players in the squad yet to play in Tests, a format England play all too rarely.
Georgia Elwiss, who has not played for England since 2019 (and was one of Arlott’s wickets in her hat-trick), is also included.
England are set to slim the squad down shortly before the match, so some of the unused players can return to the Rachael Heyhoe-Flint Trophy.
Ahead of the multi-format series against India, England have also confirmed that Nat Sciver is now their vice-captain, assisting Heather Knight, across all three formats.
