Summary of the Project Manager
I am currently recruiting for a Project Manager to join a Tier 1 company on a major project located in the Oxford area. The Project Manager will possess good contract management skills on top of being familiar with ensuring their projects are on schedule to hit the program.
Project Manager’s Responsibilities:
- Support the Project Manager and management team to monitor the progress of works and ensure that the development, design construction, testing and financial targets are on track to be met.
- Manage the project team and supply chain to deliver projects to time, cost and quality targets and standards.
- Ensure safety targets and standards are maintained by:
- Knowing what safety excellence looks like and communicating safety with passion and credibility, in order to inspire, motivate and manage the project team to achieve the vision.
- Fostering a continuous improvement culture by actively seeking input from all members of the project team and encouraging them to implement safety improvements.
- Manage the customer relationship during delivery, including change and decision making to manage expectations.
- Ensure the Company and Divisional procedures and policies are followed by the relevant teams, i.e. the Business Management System, including the Process Operating Model
- Manage external consultants (e.g. design) to enable delivery – driving value, customer focus and achievement of the project’s objectives.
- Report periodically to Senior Management on project progress, risks and issues using robust reporting systems to meet the needs of the business.
- Thorough implementation of planning, risk, project controls and change controls.
- Implementation of Lean principles throughout the project to drive productivity, performance and safety.
- Understand the relevant Contract terms and conditions for each project.
- Supervision and management of the contract works ensuring the works are carried out correctly, efficiently, safely and in accordance with the specifications.
Project Manager Requirements:
- Previous experience in Project Management within the infrastructure construction industry for a Tier 1 Main Contractor.
- Great Contract management and Contract administration skills (Must)
- Able to make sure Programs and Early Warning Notices are captured. (Must)
- Concrete Waterproofing experience (highly desired)
- Appointed Person ticket /familiar with signing of Crane plans (highly desired)
- Good understanding of NEC form of contract & JCT D&B
- Have prior experience of delivering projects worth £10 million plus.
- Civil Engineering Degree or equivalent preferable
- A relevant professional qualification, such as APMP, and a relevant technical qualification are desirable.
